I write stories about the American South.

My first novel, In Polite Company, lifts the veil on high society of my hometown, Charleston, South Carolina. I’m currently working on several more books: one set in the tidal creeks of the Lowcountry, another high up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a third set in downtown Charleston.

I also host a radio show (see the “Just for Kicks” tab), teach creative writing, and love a ridiculous project.
