I write stories about the American South.

My first novel, In Polite Company, lifts the veil on high society of my hometown, Charleston, South Carolina. I’m currently working on several more books: one set in the tidal creeks of the Lowcountry, another high up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a third set back in downtown Charleston.

I also host a radio show, teach creative writing, and am currently living in Belgium as a Fulbright Scholar to find out how to make our streets safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
